5 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Dogs

Dogs are our best friends, how are there things we don't know about them? Below are some facts that you may not have known about your four legged friend:

1. Dogs React to Yawns the Same Way Humans Do

Have you ever seen or heard someone yawn and felt the immediate need to yawn? You may feel like you need to yawn right now. Dogs are the same way. If they see someone or another dog yawn, you may see them following suit soon after.

2. Over Half of the Dogs in Europe are Overweight

A study found that over 56% of dogs weighed in the UK and Europe were overweight or obese. It may be time to take a break from the chips and biscuits!

3. They See Red as Black

Most people believe that dogs are color blind. However, this is not the case. Dogs eyes function the same way that someone with red-green color blindness eyes work. They can see their tennis ball and they can see your white car. They can't see the color on their favorite fire hydrant or the red firetrucks.

4. Dog Noses Vary from Dog to Dog

Dog noses are their versions of finger prints. No two are alike. If you ever need to prove your dog's identity, take a print of its nose!

5. When Dogs Sweat, they Do it Through their Mouths and Foot Pads

If you had as much hair as a dog, you would probably be sweating a lot too! Whenever you see your dog panting, they may be thirsty or may be sweating. If you notice on hot days that your dog is leaving prints on the pavement, they are sweating through the pads of their feet.
